I got to try a week worth of meals from diettogo.com last week. Here is my review. Now I have to make this clear. I am not into the word “diet”. I am into healthy living. As I started researching Diet to Go I figured out that they believe in the same thing. Making healthy choices and living a healthy life. What they do is send chef crafted, perfectly portioned, real meals to your doorstep. They take out all the guess-work. No meal planning. No shopping. No prepping. No cooking. I know that is a problem that people struggle with a lot. This system will teach you what a healthy meal is supposed to look like. You choose when and how often you want to order. Maybe you want to order bi-weekly. Fine. Maybe once a month. Fine. No committment needed. 100% satisfaction guaranteed. Oh and you will lose weight. I lost four pounds during my week of diet to go meals. I decided to choose the low carb meal plan.

I stuck them all neatly into my freezer and patiently waited to get started!
Cheesey Quiche, Sausage, and Green Beans with Peppers. This meal was cooked perfectly in the oven. I thawed it in my fridge overnight, and popped it in the oven at 325 for 20 minutes in the morning. The Quiche was cheesy and had a great flavor. I didn’t even miss the traditional crust that a Quiche usually has. The green beans were tender and didn’t taste frozen. My favorite part was the sausage. It was juicy, plump, and bursting with awesomeness. The meal left me full and satisfied for about 4-5 hours!
Pork Chop, Egg Patty topped with Bacon and Cheese + Green Beans. This meal was something I would have never thought to put together. The pork chop was about 5 oz and boneless. It was seasoned well. I was hesitant to try this, because I was thinking how good could a reheated pork chop be? Pork is super hard to cook in the first place so I wasn’t sure about this. I took the first bite just knowing that it had to be dry and overcooked. I was pleasantly surprised. The chop had moisture, and with the combination of Canadian bacon and cheddar cheese it was like a party in my mouth. The green beans were nice and a good extra addition. I felt like I was eating dinner for breakfast.
Cheesy Omelet topped with Mushroom Tomato Mixture and Sausage Patty topped with greens.Okay. You see that ooey gooey cheese sneaking out from BOTH sides of the omelet? Yeah that is legit. I am sold. The omelet tasted like something I would make here at home. Except at home it would take me at least 15 minutes to chop up my veggies, get my eggs and egg-white’s mixed up, heat up my pan, and cook it. Oh and eat it. Who has time for that. There was a nice tomato, mushroom, and yellow pepper mixture on top. Good flavor. Not spicy. Inside like I said it was stuffed to the brim with a few kinds of cheeses. If that wasn’t enough diet to go also includes a large sausage patty topped with chopped greens on the side. The patty was at least 3 or 4 oz. The greens were not overly green and tasted just right.
Cheese Omelet with Spinach, Bacon, and Salsa.Oh my. That cup of salsa? Perfect. It was just the right amount of spicy. The omelet was filled with cheese and had spinach underneath. It is so hard to get frozen eggs right. Somehow diet to go does it perfect. Oh. The bacon? Yeah it was amazing.
Egg patties, Canadian bacon, with Creamed Spinach and Cauliflower.My husband was begging for this entrée so I let him have it! He loved the creamed spinach. He said it was creamy and cheesy. The Canadian bacon was moist and the eggs were cooked well.
Turkey Patty with Vegetables and a Lemon Herb Sauce.My only complaint about this lunch is that it needed more of the lemon herb sauce! It was so delish. Are you reading this diet to go? MORE LEMON HERB SAUCE?! THANKS! 🙂 Turkey burger was huge maybe 6 oz? Tons of veggies on the side that didn’t taste frozen + a kale veggie mixture on top of the burger. I had trouble finishing this one. It was huge. We tend to over think our meals a lot of the time. We need protein, a carb, veggies, healthy fats etc. It’s so nice to let Diet To Go do the thinking for you! Heat and eat. Heat and eat actual real food at that!
Beef Short Ribs with a Mushroom Sauce and Broccoli.Beef short ribs with mixed greens in a mushroom sauce + broccoli. I ate this beef with literally a butter knife. Good flavor. My only complaint is that I wish there was a little sauce or something to go with the broccoli. It was a bit plain.
Chicken Cheddar Pesto with Veggies.Chicken Cheddar and Pesto. This was probably my least favorite lunch. It wasn’t bad, it just didn’t have that WOW factor. The pesto flavor was good but it just needed a little something extra.
Hamburger with Swiss, Creamed Spinach, and Mixed Veggies.My favorite meal! The burger was perfect. It tasted char-broiled straight from the grill! 10 out of 10!! Delish. Ps My husband is a creamed spinach lover. He says there never was enough of it! I think he shed a little tear when it was gone!
Chicken Alfredo with Broccoli. I was kind of confused at first because I though this meal would have some white alfredo sauce in it. I think the infusion of the veggies makes the sauce more orange, but this dish was great. Perfect lunch.
Lemon Herb Chicken and Loaded Veggies.This chicken had a kick. It was a little spicy which I love. It came with green beans and broccoli with bacon and cheddar cheese. I cooked this meal in the oven, but I bet it would be fun to thaw out the entrée and cook the chicken breast on the grill. Yum.
Curried veggies, chicken, and asparagus. I love curry so I was excited for this. The veggies were awesome. I think there was some artichoke in there! Chicken was tasty, but it was a bit small. Maybe 3 oz? Curry tasted like well curry. Very nice.
Chicken with Bacon, Vegetables and Red Pepper Sauce.My husband got to enjoy this meal. He ended up giving me a bite though so I could do this review. What a guy! 🙂 The red pepper sauce went super nice with the big pile of bacon on top of that chicken breast. Good flavor. I wish I had gotten it for myself. He actually ate up all the brussels sprouts before I could even have one! I guess they were good!
Crab Stuffed Flounder, Green beans with Parmesan, and Creamed Spinach/Cauliflower.Now I saved this dinner for last. Everyone knows I am from Maryland, live in the Florida Keys, and enjoy super fresh seafood. I didn’t want to try this stuffed flounder and hate it. I was so afraid you guys! I picked up a small piece of the flounder with my fork. It flaked super easy. I added a bit of the crab stuffing. I took a deep breath (seriously it was this dramatic). I ate that first bite. I was so happy. First of all I could taste the old bay in the crab stuffing. Second of all the flounder was not fishy at all. It is such a nice white firm fish. I gobbled it up! The veggies were as always good.
Final thoughts on Diet To Go-
This was a super fun experience. I loved getting my diet to go shipment. It was so fun to unpack all of my meals and organize them for the week. I didn’t have to think about shopping, food planning, food prepping, or cooking. They literally send you everything you need. You do not need to buy anything. I know of some other diet services that make you purchase extra items. Not Diet To Go. With their low-fat plan you also get a fresh pack filled with things like yogurt, fruit, and snacks. The weekly meal plan changes every week, so you never get sick of the same foods! There is no thinking involved. Now on a serious note, I did notice some of the sodium is high in a few meals. Not super crazy high, but enough to where I was sure I drank a little bit of extra water. Could you make healthy meals at home with a few less ingredients? Absolutely. Could they have less sodium? Absolutely. Would it cost you tons of your precious time. YES. Diet to go is great for people on the go who don’t have time to spend hours cooking and planning healthy meals.
