Getting to know you questions.

I saw this today on Oprah’s Website and thought it would be fun to do for a blog. Please feel free to write your own blog with these same questions, or answer them in the comments below. I would love to get to know you all. Okay. Here goes!

1. Who was your favorite celebrity as a child?

jk1021Jordan Knight. (I think I secretly was a Donnie fan to be honest).

Corey Haim. My sister and I were both totally obsessed with him as kids!

2. What type of pets do you have?

3. What is your favorite color?

Any shade of green.

4. What is most memorable about your high school years?

Singing in chorus.

5. What word describes you best?

6.  What is your greatest accomplishment?

I am living a healthy life filled with positivity, learning, and kindness. No material things weigh me down. I am proud of the person I am.

7. What drives you every day?

My husband. I want to continue to learn and grow because of him. My readers and supporters. Without them I might have given up on my weight loss a long time ago. The number 285. I never want to weigh that again, so I have to do everything in my power to keep moving.

8. What is your favorite food?

9. Where do you want to retire?

Maine in the summer. For the winter I would stay exactly where I am. The Florida Keys. florida-keys-islands Portland_Head_Lighthouse_Maine

10. What is your business goal this year?

Continue growing my blog, continue helping people decide to live healthier, and maybe write a cookbook!

11. Where do you like to vacation?

Right here where I live! Can you blame me?

12. Who do you admire?

I admire anyone who wants to be the best person that they can possibly be. Also, kind people.

13. What is your mission?

To continue on my health journey. I want to be in a normal body fat range. To be the best wife and mom  as I possibly can. To be a good friend. To have success in my career.

14. If you were invisible, where would you go?

I have no answer for this! It’s kind of creepy!

15. What traits in others are you attracted to?

I am into kindness, honesty, sense of humor, intelligence, and sincerity.

16. What is the kindest thing anyone has done for you?

I would have to really sit and think about it. My husband has done a million kind things for me though.

17. How do you want to be remembered?

As a funny, kind, random, and helpful person.

18. What would you do with a million dollars?

Buy my husband a yacht, help family pay bills, and put the rest in the bank. Seriously.

19. If you were on an island, who would you want to be with? Why?

What if I am already on an island with exactly who I want to be with?  Winning.

20. You have a 10 minute speech to give at a high school, what is it about?

It’s about how things in high school that we all cared about, stressed about, and worried about have NOTHING to do with the real world. It would be about moving on and growing up.

  1. 1. As a young child I was obsessed with Sesame Street, I particularly related to Grover. By my early teens, Nick Cave… ok up to this day… Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds… they simply rule.
    2. My dog – Midnight, a jet black lab who I adopted after she was given up for being “too gun shy”, plus my cat Zach who was rescued from the street and resembles Buddha – well more in physique than ideology.
    3. Not a huge colour fan, black and white is more my speed.
    4. Graduation. Could not wait to get the hell out of there.
    5. Idiosyncratic.
    6. I think my greatest accomplishment is overcoming some pretty dark periods in my life and becoming a successful chef.
    7. The thought of what might new experiences are out there.
    8. Cooking for a living, I am drawn towards the simple when I am away from the restaurant. Really good thin crust pizza, a crisp green salad, and a glass of awesome red wine.
    9. Sannibel Island Florida in the winter, and Woody Point Newfoundland in the summer.
    10. Continue to sock money away to buy a place on Sannibel.
    11. I love travelling to Central America, the food is awesome, the people charming, the beaches outstanding, the culture eye-opening, and the cost fantastic.
    12. I admire my Mom. How she dealt with my sister and I, managed a successful career, and finished her Masters Degree while we were kids, provided a wonderful example of “anything is possible”.
    13. My mission is simply to try to find the joy in being me.
    14. I would enjoy being a “fly on the wall” within private kitchens that I will never see underway – places like the White House, the Vatican, Buckingham Palace that kinda thing.
    15. I am interested in hanging out with funny, self deprecating people who can tell a good story and don’t rush to judgement.
    16. I once was stranded hitch hiking on the west coast of Tasmania and was getting ready to put up my tent wherever I could find a wind break, when I was picked up by a local fisherman who took me out to dinner with his family, gave me a place to sleep, and took me out fishing the next day. He proceeded to give me room and board, for the next week, in exchange for my completely worthless efforts on his boat. Maybe the best week of my life. Stayed in touch with him for the next 15 years, went back to Australia for his funeral two years ago.
    17. To be remembered kindly by the people who have known me.
    18. Buy a very small place on Sannibel Island, and give some nice Christmas gifts that year.
    19. I would definately be with my lab Midnight… if we both could also get some companionship that would be pretty cool. A nice lady with an affectionate portuguese water dog?
    20. I have to agree entirely with you Grace, the speech would have to be about how all you need to do is survive high school and move on. There are much better times ahead, you just need to get far enought along to see your options.
