We decided to check out the Key West Cemetery the other day. The light was weird outside so I didn’t get any totally amazing shots, but here is what I got.

Just another roundup.
Hello lovelies. Sorry I haven’t blogged recently. Sometimes the blogging is hot, sometimes it’s cold. You know how it is.
It has been absolutely beautiful weather here in the Florida Keys. Tons of gusty wind and lower temps. We went 3 or 4 days with no air conditioner which is a blessing for October.
As you can see the cats were DYING to get outside.
I did my 6 mile run this past Saturday. It was uhm.. really slow. I had the worst pace EVER. Seriously. I made the mistake of drinking 4 cups of light roasted coffee, drinking 36 oz of tri pep, and only eating 1/2 a lara bar. Each mile I could feel the sun beating down on me and it was HARD! Thank god I had 70 oz of water in my camelbak, and a few stashed starbursts to help get me through. This weekend I have 7 miles to do. I am determined to have a steady pace and take a much better route with less direct sun. Also? Yeah food. I am going to eat some before I go! 🙂 This is all a huge learning experience for me. It’s exciting. The rest of my training has been pretty spot on. If my legs are too tired or sore on the day of a run, I just adjust my training schedule. I like having a plan, but not feeling too upset or guilty if I have to rearrange that plan. It all gets done!
After that hell run we decided to go crabbing the next day. To our surprise we were successful! We caught about a dozen and a half. Crabbing is hard work. You have to walk through silty water, or back and forth between lines. After you catch it you have to clean them and cook them. It’s a process!
Cleaned blue crab ready to be cooked. This style is called Jersey style. You put the crabs on ice, let them fall asleep, and gently tear their shells off. Sounds barbaric right? It’s actually the most humane way to kill them. Instead of throwing them into a pot of boiling water, we are putting them to sleep on ice and killing them with no pain. Makes me sleep better at night 🙂 Not to mention the crabs get cooked with NO guts and the results are amazing clean white fresh tasting meat. Yum.
This is what I call a yellow fatty. You can tell he is heavy and has a ton of meat because his shell is yellow and not white. White crabs have recently molted or are in the process of molting. This guy was FULL of meat. Good eating.
All cooked and ready to eat. Did we sit around and have a feast after our 5 hours of work? Nope. We put the crab into ziplock bags to save it for the future. I do this every single year. Hopefully I will end up with ten pounds of crab meat at the end of the season. Hint- by leaving the crab meat in the shells you are actually preserving the meat in the freezer. I used to pick all of the meat down but found that it would get ice crystals in it immediately. Leave the shells on!
There was some pool time that happened. It was actually freezing!
And a nice cruise to Marathon Florida.
Bolthouse was kind enough to send me these juices to review. Yum. I will report back to you on these soon!
Well that is what I have been up to. Nothing too exciting. I hope everyone has a nice Halloween. What are you dressing up as? What are your kids dressing up as?
Weekend Roundup.
Weekend Roundup.
Hi lovelies! I hope this Monday is treating you well. We had a great weekend over here. I got all my training in, the house cleaned, the house stocked up with yummy healthy food, and I got in the most awesome fishing trip!
Seafood purchase= 2 lbs of large Key West pink shrimp, 2 filets of Mahi, 1 lb of wild salmon, 2 yellowfin tuna filets.
I saw these notebooks on sale for 49 cents and HAD to have them. I especially love the red and white chevron print. I have been obsessively keeping a food journal. Bite it, WRITE IT! Now I am stocked up til winter 😀
This was some of the view I had fishing out in Big Pine Channel.
The biggest porgy fish ever! I was cleaning and fileting fish for two hours. We ended up with 2 lbs.
3 mile walk today. My legs were killing me! I had a 15 minute mile pace though so I will take it.
and 5 miles on Saturday. It was HOT!
I have been eating meals from diet to go this week. They were nice enough to send me a week of meals for review. Those end tomorrow though and so I hope to throw up some recipes for you guys. I know for sure I am making shrimp feta salad on Wednesday. Mmm 🙂
Hope you all are well!
Chat soon loves.

No Words Wednesday!
Low Key.
What a chill and mellow weekend I had. My husband and I had worked super hard all week in the yard tidying up and improving some things. I scrubbed all of our boats, pruned our banana tree, scrubbed our boat basin, and about a hundred other things. Needless to say when the weekend came we were both EXHAUSTED. We literally took it easy all weekend. I grilled a bit, swam in the pool, played some sims, and just really rested. I can’t believe June has come and gone. Time really does fly!
I didn’t meet my June goals. I did lose five pounds, but I didn’t finish the 30 day shred. That is the thing about living a healthy lifestyle. It doesn’t always go your way. Some months, weeks, days are gonna be easier than others. It can feel effortless, or it can feel like the hardest thing. The point is that we just have to keep trying. I am not upset with myself. I will just continue on my journey. I want to lose 10 lbs for the month of July. My birthday is in 25 days! 🙂
I got a organic share blog coming tomorrow, a diet to go review, a huge giveaway announcement, and I will try to throw a few recipes up this week as well. Take care friends! Hope you all had a good weekend. What are your goals for July?
This sailboat was covered in black crap before I attacked it!
Grilled zucchini for the grill!
Playing the new Sims island adventure 🙂
The new hammock is soo awesome. Comfy and I love the color. We are thinking of getting another one. I don’t wanna share!
New chair lounger for the pool.
First round of cleaning the sea basin. It looks SO much better now. All the black crap is almost gone.
Our trip to the reef.
To celebrate my husband’s birthday we decided to take a trip aboard the Marathon Lady. She is a 73 foot fishing party boat. We decided to go on the 9:30am trip so we headed out early with our rods and sunblock. The boat goes all the way out to the reef and hangs out in 20-40 feet of water. They rent out rods, have beer and sodas, and a super helpful staff. The fishing wasn’t too hot, but we ended up catching a decent amount of fish. Christopher caught a few mangrove snapper and grunts. I caught a big eye torro fish and more grunts. You can pay the deck boys to filet up your catch and so we did. We ended up with a total of 18 fish, and over 2 lbs of fish filets. It was a great time. My only suggestion is to make sure you drink PLENTY of water. It was literally insane hot out there. Don’t forget the sunblock either!!
For the cost if was a good deal. 45 dollars a person. I think I would much rather prefer fishing on my own vessel though. Not enough room to cast, and too many people etc. It is a totally fun time though. Can’t find a nicer crew anywhere.
Sunday Sunday.
It’s raining here in the Keys. This makes me happy and sad. Sad because it means no snorkeling or swimming. Happy because the sound of rain is deliciously romantic. It also means I have the entire day free to play inside.
Breakfast was exceptional this morning. My husband and I made poached eggs for the first time. It is time-consuming, but delicious. I lightened up my eggs bene by skipping the Canadian bacon, and making a delicious fat free sauce. I also used a multi-grain english muffin. The sauce was plain Chobani greek yogurt, and some grey poupon honey mustard mixed together. It turned out creamy and delicious. You can do so much with Chobani plain greek as a base! I also added on some fresh slices of organic tomato and served it with organic strawberries. It was divine.
I just finished day 2 of the 30 day shred. WOOSA!
Now I am just sitting around listening to the rain and trying to figure out what to do with the rest of this gray day! Have a great rest of the weekend friends.
I leave you with my little water gnome Silas. He loves drinking from the faucet. He will actually harass you UNTIL you give him running water.
